Currently Emil Michael works at Uber, as that company’s senior vice president of business. In his role as an Uber executive, he has been instrumental in a number of very important aspects of Uber's business. For example, he has assisted with international expansion, he has established a number of corporate partnerships with companies as diverse as Spotify and American Express, and he has raised a lot of capital for the company, including a recent round of financing that set the company's value at $17 billion.

Though he was born in Cairo, Egypt, Emil Michael came to the United States as a baby and grew up in New Rochelle, New York. Later, he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Government cum laude from Harvard. While there, he wrote for the Harvard Crimson and served as president of the Harvard Republican Club. After earning a law degree from Stanford, he worked for a short time at Goldman Sachs, before heading to Silicon Valley in 1999, the peak of the dot-com bubble, where he co-founded Tellme Networks. That company developed voice recognition software designed for automated telephone systems. He worked with that company until 2007, when it was purchased by Microsoft.

Between 2009 and 2011, Emil Michael decided to serve his country and worked as a special assistant to Defense Secretary Robert Gates as a security adviser. He returned to Silicon Valley in 2012, as the CEO of Klout, a social media analytics company, before landing at Uber a year later.

For most of his career, Emil Michael has assisted numerous technology start-ups with their business strategy, corporate and business development, operations and sales force restructuring. He has advised some of the largest and most prominent tech companies in Silicon Valley, guiding many of them to lucrative multi-billion-dollar partnerships or buyouts by much larger tech companies, such as Microsoft, Yahoo, Yelp and others.
